Your role at Fathom Fish will be as part of the specialized group that begin the process of turning fish into food.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Carefully and efficiently trim fish fillets to consistently meet company specifications
  • Skillfully fillet salmon and other species, as required
  • Use state-of-the-art machinery to assist in processing and packaging of our products
  • Carefully and accurately pack our premium products into boxes to be shipped
  • Accurately weigh and grade portions and fillets with the aid of a scale • Mentor and train aspiring filleters and trimmers
  • Proactively keep work area clean, tidy, and safe • Take care of your tools and the processing equipment by following protocols
  • Uphold the highest workplace safety standards, including proper PPE and food safety practices
  • Help contribute to our daily cleaning and sanitizing efforts
  • Lead by example when it comes to working safely and efficiently
  • Play an active role in helping us uphold our quality standards by speaking up when issues arise
  • Collaborate closely with team members

Qualifications:

  • A desire to play an important role in helping us turn fish into food
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Accurate and precise knife skills is an asset
  • Driven personality with a desire for improvement and mastery of skill
  • Ability to lift fish up to 30lbs is an asset, but not required

Working Conditions:

Fathom Fish & Seafood will provide all knives, smocks, aprons, gloves, hair and beard nets and any other required PPE. Employees are asked to bring their own boots and there is a re-imbursement program for boots that employees can quality for. The processing plant is a new building that we keep clean and sanitized. Food safety and producing quality products are our top priorities but we like having fun while we do it. Music plays in the processing plant during daily production. On occasion workers are asked to work later into the evening to finish an order and time off in lieu is given. Employees are also asked to help with cleaning and sanitation until a full-time sanitation team is assembled.

Physical Requirements:

The role of Fish Processing General Labourer requires employees to work on their feet in a seafood processing plant for long periods of time. The processing plant is kept at a comfortable temperature for workers to spend several hours in the room without being cold.
